Well, we awoke this morning to another fresh blanket of heavy wet snow here in the Finger Lakes. Steve was reminded of a recent conversation that he had with a local grape farmer about American Robin folklore. He had mentioned to the farmer that he had seen a robin and that we are all ready for spring in our household.
According to the farmer the robin has to get it’s feet wet in snow three times before winter will officially be over. Well, based on the siting of the first robin in our yard a few weeks ago, today’s snow marks the second time that the robin has gotten its feet wet this winter. Meaning… we can look forward to one more measurable snowfall before we can officially bid adieu to winter. Here’s hoping it snows one more time really soon.
